How to Perform Eid Prayer
00-00-0000
Eid prayer, one of the obligatory acts of Islam, is performed twice a year: once on the morning of Eid al-Fitr, which follows the end of Ramadan, the Sultan of the eleven months, and the other on the morning of Eid al-Adha, which marks the beginning of the Feast of Sacrifice. Eid prayer consists of 2 rak'ahs (units of prayer).
Timing of Eid Prayer Islamic tradition, based on the Hijri calendar, calculates the timing of Eid prayers and the day of Ramadan differently from the Gregorian calendar, by moving back 10-11 days compared to the previous year's day. Therefore, it is necessary to follow the timing of Eid prayers according to the calendar of the year by checking the calendar for that year. Eid prayer starts after the Fajr (dawn) prayer and ends before the Dhuhr (noon) prayer.
Performing Eid Prayer Intention for Eid prayer In our Islamic faith, the essence of our worship is not the act itself but the sincere intention with which it is performed. Before starting Eid prayer, one should sincerely intend in their heart, "I intend to perform the Eid prayer for the sake of Allah's pleasure."
Takbeerat al-Ihram in Eid Prayer The Eid prayer, which is recommended to be performed in congregation, begins with Takbeerat al-Ihram (the opening declaration of "Allahu Akbar" - Allah is the Greatest) led by the Imam, followed by the binding of hands. After the first Takbeer, the Imam recites the Subhanaka dua (prayer), then brings the second Takbeer, and the hands are raised to the sides. Subsequently, the third Takbeer is pronounced, and the hands are again raised to the sides. With the fourth Takbeer, the hands are bound, and the first rak'ah begins.
First Rak'ah In the first rak'ah, led by the Imam, he audibly recites the Fatiha (the opening chapter of the Quran) and then a short portion of another Surah (chapter). After the Imam recites the Takbeer, the congregation goes into the bowing position (Ruku) and says "Subhane Rabbiyel Azim" three times. Then, after the Imam recites the Takbeer again, they go into prostration (Sujood) and say "Subhane Rabbiyel A'la" three times. Following this, the congregation rises with the Takbeer, and the second rak'ah begins.
Second Rak'ah In the second rak'ah, similar to the first rak'ah, the Imam audibly recites the Fatiha and a short portion of another Surah. After the recitation, the Imam pronounces the first Takbeer, and the hands are raised to the sides without binding. The second and third Takbeers are also performed similarly, followed by going into the bowing position (Ruku) and then prostration (Sujood) without binding the hands. After the second prostration, the congregation rises with the Takbeer, and then they sit down.
Prostration In the prostration position, the congregation says "Subhane Rabbiyel A'la" three times, and then, following the Imam's instructions, they sit down. At this point, the Tashahhud (testimony of faith), Salawat (invocation of blessings upon the Prophet), and Rabbena duas (prayers) are recited. Finally, the congregation concludes the prayer by giving Salam (peace greetings).
After the Prayer After the Eid prayer, the Imam delivers a sermon, supplications are made, and Tasbih (praising Allah) is recited. Then, the congregation exchanges greetings and good wishes, marking the end of the Eid prayer process. Additionally, many people wish to help and bring joy to orphans during Eid.
